Exercises for Facial Muscles
1. Exercising Your Forehead and Eyes
For this exercise, use your index finger to pull on your forehead. By using just your index fingers, you can put pressure to your forehead so that you can shift the eyebrows and strengthen it. This will help to create smooth lines on your forehead.
How to perform:
- Place your fingers above your eyes.
- Keep your eyes down while trying to lift the eyebrows.
- Repeat 10 to 15 times.
2. Push your forehead with your hands
In this facial exercise use your palms to form resistance when you are flexing the eyebrows.
How to perform:
- Place your palms on both sides of the forehead in a way that the bottom of palm should rest on your eyebrows and your palms should hold the forehead skin in place.
3. Lift your eyebrows, then release them
Another simple but effective facial exercise.
How to perform:
- Lift and release 10 to 15 times, then lift them again and pause for about 30 to 40 seconds. Lower again pause for 30 to 40 seconds, then repeat 10 times.
4. Stretch your eyelids
Eyelids are simple facial muscles to work on and don’t require much effort. Use your fingers to stretch your eyelids.
How to perform:
- Sit and shut your eyes.
- Keep your eyelids relaxed, and use your fingers to raise your eyebrows. Keep your eyes shut while raising and stretch the eyelids as much as you can.
- Hold for 10 seconds, then ease and repeat.
5. Eye squeeze
Work on your eyelids further by slowly squeezing your eyes with a little resistance from your mouth. This exercise will help your entire face to stretch out including your eyes.
How to perform:
- Keep your lips down to tighten up your facial muscles, and then pull them to one side.
- Squeeze your eye for a second, and repeat 10 to 15 times. Keep your lips to the side. When done with the one eye, try with another eye.
- Perform 3 sets of 15, take a little rest, and then again perform 3 sets of 15.
6. Do the OO-EE mouth
Move your mouth to create some sounds. This exercise targets your lips and the muscles between your lips and nose. This is a simple facial muscle exercise that requires some movement when you are making sounds.
How to perform:
- Open your mouth, keep your lips together and hide your teeth.
- Try to say “OO,” while keeping your lips together.
- Then change to “EE,” and stretch your lips. For a change, you can also say “AH” instead of “EE.”
- Perform 10 reps and then repeat for 4 sets.
7. Do a lip exercise
This exercise will increase the flow of blood to your lips. This will give your lips an energetic, healthier, and natural colour.
How to perform:
- Slightly open your mouth and keep your lips relaxed.
- Now move the lower lip forward till it makes contact with other lip.
- Bring your both lips inward and apply pressure, then release.
8. Smile
We all have heard that smile is magic. In this exercise by using your smile, you can make your facial muscles, and other muscles in the neck stronger and healthy.
How to perform:
- Keep your facial muscles relaxed and gently start smiling so that you can feel that your muscles are stretching. Keep your lips sealed while doing.
- Now, keep your teeth closed and expose. Make sure that the inner side of your mouth should not be visible.
- Smile as wide as possible, and when you feel that you are unable to stretch your smile more, gently start releasing.
- You can pause at each step until you get a full and wide smile, and when you get a full and wide smile, hold for about 10 to 15 seconds and then release gently.
- Repeat 5 to 7 times.
